How do I play?

Asked with: At the Gates of Loyangbg-39683-en-1e

The game is played over 9 rounds.[1] Each round consists of three phases:[1]
**Phase 1: Harvest phase**
1. All players carry out this phase simultaneously.[1]
2. Each player turns over the top field from his Field pile and places it to the right of his other fields (in the last round, no new field is uncovered).[1]
3. Each player harvests exactly 1 vegetable from each of his fields.[1]
4. The player places the harvested vegetables and any vegetables left in his Storehouse from previous turns on or beside his Cart.[1]
5. Once the last vegetable is removed from a Private field, it is removed from the game.[1]
**Phase 2: Card phase**
1. At the start of the phase, a new Draw pile is created by shuffling the Discard pile into the remaining Draw pile.[1]
2. Each player is dealt a hand of 4 Action cards.[1]
3. **Distribution round:**
* The player with the larger Starting player token places one card from his hand face up in the centre of the table to open the "Courtyard".[2]
* Players take turns in clockwise order.[2]
* On a turn, a player must choose one of two options (passing is not allowed):
* Place 1 card from his hand into the Courtyard.[2]
* Take exactly 1 card from the Courtyard and exactly 1 card from his hand, placing both face-up in his own play area.[2]
* If a player uses the Regular customer dealt at the start of the game, he may play it instead of a card from his hand, but he must still choose a card from the Courtyard and cannot play a card from his hand.[2]
* The last player left to choose may no longer place cards into the Courtyard but must choose from the available cards.[2]
* Any remaining cards in a player's hand are placed face-up in the Courtyard, and that player takes no further part in the round.[2]
* At the end of the round, remaining cards in the Courtyard form a new face-up Discard pile.[3]
4. Each player plays 2 Action cards face-up into his own playing area.[1]
5. A new Starting player is chosen: the last player to play two cards receives the large Starting player token, and the second last player receives the smaller Starting player token.[3]
**Phase 3: Action phase**
1. The Starting player begins, followed by the Second player.[3] (In a 3-player game, the player with no token is third).[3]
2. A player may take actions in any order during his turn.[3]
3. A player may take any action (except "Buy a Two-pack") as many times as he wishes during a round, and may take other actions in between.[3]
4. Possible actions include:
* Taking 1 vegetable from a Cart and placing it on an empty field.[4]
* Buying 1 vegetable from one's own Shop and placing it in the Cart.[4]
* Taking 1 vegetable from a Cart and selling it to one's own Shop.[4]
* Trading 1 or 2 vegetables from a Cart for 1 vegetable from a Market stall.[4]
* Using Helper skills or discarding Helpers.[4]
* Using the Squire to take up to 3 cards from the Courtyard instead of 1.[5]
* Using the Subsistence farmer to take 1 vegetable from another player's field (if it has at least 4 vegetables and is not a Home field) by paying 1 Cash.[5]
* Using the Tout to exchange or buy Casual customers.[5]
5. At the end of their turns, players must store their vegetables and may move their Scoring marker.[3]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 35 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.

both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it.
