To play the game, follow these procedures:
**The First Harvest (Introduction Phase)**
1. The youngest player starts by placing one farmer on any windmill blade and taking exactly one food token from the supply that matches the food illustrated on that blade.[1]
2. The starting player places this food token in their play area.[1]
3. Other players, in clockwise order, place one farmer on any windmill blade and take one matching food token from the supply.[1]
4. This process repeats in clockwise order until all players have placed all of their farmers and received a food token for each.[1]
**Gameplay**
1. The game begins with the start player taking the first turn.[1]
2. On your turn, you must take one of the following actions: [1]
* **Move a Farmer:** Select one of your farmers and move it clockwise.[1] The number of spaces moved is determined by the number of farmers on the blade you are moving from (e.g., if you are alone, move 1 space; if there are 2 other farmers with you, move 3 spaces).[1] After moving, look at the resource on the blade you moved to and take one food token of that type from the supply for every farmer now on that blade (including your own).[2] Place these tokens in your play area.[2]
* **Make a Delivery:** You may deliver up to 6 food tokens in a single turn to one or more communities.[3][4] To make a delivery, follow these steps: [3][4]
1. Return one of your donkey carts to the stack near the windmill.[3][4]
2. Place the exact number and types of resources requested by the community on the community's request tile.[3][4]
3. Return the used food tokens to the supply, then take the satisfied request tile(s) and place them in your play area.[3][4]
4. Turn over the top-most tile on the request tile stack(s) to reveal the next request.[3][4]
3. Play continues in clockwise order until the game ends when the final finca token is placed on the board.[1]
**Optional Actions**
During a turn, a player may use one available action tile to perform a bonus action in addition to their normal action:[5]
* **Double Move:** After moving a farmer and collecting resources, immediately take another Move a Farmer action with any of your farmers.[5]
* **Gust of Wind:** Place a farmer on any windmill blade and collect food tokens as if you had moved there (no donkey carts can be collected with this action).[5]
* **Large Donkey Cart:** Use this instead of a donkey cart card to deliver up to 10 foods in one turn instead of the normal limit of 6.[5]
* **Resource Discount:** For the entirety of the turn, deliveries cost 1 less resource (though you cannot use this to complete a request tile that only requires 1 food).[5]
