The basic mechanic of the game is moving your telescope to select your actions each turn.[1] Actions allow you to observe the heavens, write in the library, lecture at the university, and gain other advantages.[1]

**A Turn**

1. Move the telescope 1 to 3 spaces clockwise along the starry sky, though it cannot point at the two lowest spaces.[2] If moving past the Upgrade action, it moves to the lowest section that is not crossed out.[2]

2. Choose which to play first: the fixed action (dark) or the moving action (light).[2]

3. Complete your turn by removing the Action tile you played this turn from the starry sky, moving the remaining Action tiles forward, and putting the removed tile at the beginning of the queue.[3]

**The Write Action**

The Write action allows you to move a Book token:

1. Complete writing: Move one Book token to the rightmost space in its row.[4]

2. Partial Writing: Move your Book tokens a total number of spaces equal to the icon's number.[4]

3. After moving, you must take all rewards from each space you moved through or to, one by one from left to right, if possible.[4]

**End of the Game**

1. The end of the game is triggered when the last Discovery card is drawn from the deck [1] or when the last Discovery card is placed on the Game Board or taken by a player as a reward for observing a constellation.[5]

2. Finish the current round so that each player has had the same number of turns.[1]

3. Play one last round, where each player takes one final turn.[1][5]

4. Count up your score.[1][5] Scoring includes points for the university and the inquisition, based on University tokens, Inquisitor tokens, and Reputation.[5]

5. The player with the most victory points wins.[1][5] In the event of a tie, the player with the highest remaining sum of observation dice wins; if still tied, the player with the most remaining Quadrant tokens wins; if still tied, players share the victory.[5]
