How do I play?

Asked with: Myrmesbg-126792-en-1e

A game of Myrmes is played over 3 game years, with each year divided into 4 seasons.[1] The game consists of the following phases and sequence:
**1. Births**
* This phase is played simultaneously by all players.[2]
* Each player uses their nurses to place them either in one of the three birth tracks (to give birth to new ants) or in the atelier.[2]
* In the birth tracks, players can use nurses to produce:
* Larvae: Up to 3 nurses can be used; the first nurse gives one larva, and the second and third can give 2 larvae each.[2]
* Soldiers: Up to 3 nurses can be used; the first two nurses give one soldier, and the third gives an extra soldier.[2]
* Workers: Up to 4 nurses can be used; two nurses are needed for the first worker, and two more for a second.[2]
* Once all players have finished placing nurses, they simultaneously proceed to the birth of the ants, which are placed in the respective rooms on the players' individual boards.[2]
**2. Workers**
* This phase is played by each player in turn, starting with the first player and moving clockwise.[3]
* Players cannot pass.[3]
* Each player uses a worker to either:
* **Ant colony:** Send the worker to work in the colony.[3] At each level, only one worker can work, and the worker remains in place for the turn.[3]
* Level 0 (gestation room): Player gains a larva placed in the larva room.[3]
* Level I (larder): Player gains a cube of food for their stockpile.[3]
* Level II (quarry): Player gains a cube of earth or stone for their stockpile.[3]
* Level III (queen's room): Player spends 1 food cube to feed the queen and gains 2 victory points.[3]
* **Sortie:** Send the worker outside to the garden area.[3][4]
* The worker uses 3 movement points (or 6 if the Move+3 event was chosen).[4]
* Actions include: Finding/hunting prey (by discarding soldiers), placing pheromones, placing special tiles, or cleaning up pheromones.[5][4]
* Cleaning up pheromones: A worker can clear an empty pheromone (or an opponent's) by discarding one earth cube from their stockpile.[6]
* Moving: 1 movement point allows moving through an empty space or crossing an entire pheromone tile.[4] Crossing opposing tiles costs one soldier.[4]
* Workers that leave the colony are discarded once they place a tile or at the end of their movement if they do not place a tile.[4]
* The turn passes to the next player after a worker is used.[3]
**3. Harvest**
* This phase is played simultaneously once all players have played all their workers.[7]
* On each non-empty pheromone owned by the player, the owner must pick up one cube of their choice and place it in their stockpile.[7][5]
* Specifics include: Aphid farms earn one food cube; Scavenging earns one earth or stone cube; Sub-colonies earn 2 victory points.[7]
* If the Harvest+3 event was chosen, the player may optionally pick up up to 3 extra cubes of their choice from their pheromones.[7]
**4. Atelier**
* This phase is played by each player in turn, but only for players who put one or more nurses in the atelier during phase 2.[7]
* Players place their nurses in the atelier spaces of the main board (one nurse per space).[7]
* Players choose the order in which their actions are resolved.[7]
* Actions include:
* Tunnel: Place a new tunnel exit in the garden area and earn one cube of earth.[7]
* Digging new tunnels, improving the ant colony, creating new nurses, or completing objectives.[7][5]
**End of Turn and Game End**
* At the end of a turn, players update their stock and the first player token moves.[5]
* During the winter season, players must draw from food reserves; they must discard food cubes or lose points (soldiers can be used to protect food).[1][5]
* The player with the most points at the end of 3 years wins the game.[5]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 20 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

watchdog
first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.
