1. Get the book and the decoder disk ready on the table.[1]
2. Sort the Riddle Cards, Answer Cards, and Help Cards into three piles.[1]
3. Arrange Riddle Cards and Answer Cards in ascending order according to their letters or numbers.[1]
4. Sort the Help Cards according to their symbols, placing the '1st CLUE' card on top of the '2nd CLUE' card, and the '2nd CLUE' card on top of the 'SOLUTION' card.[1]
5. Start a stopwatch (or check the time).[2][3]
6. Begin solving the riddles by looking through the entire book.[3]
7. Identify locked objects in the book or on Riddle Cards, which are marked with a symbol.[4]
8. Figure out the matching code consisting of three colored vessels for a code and enter it into the decoder disk under the corresponding symbol.[5]
9. Look through the viewing window on the smallest wheel of the disk to see a number.[5]
10. Use that number to pull the corresponding Answer Card from the pile and look at it.[5][4][6]
