How do I play?

Asked with: Smash Up: Awesome Level 9000bg-134726-en-1e

**Setup**
1. Each player chooses two different 20-card factions and shuffles them together to make a 40-card deck.[1][2]
2. Place one more base card than you have players in the middle of the table.[3][2]
3. Each player draws a hand of five cards.[3][2]
4. If you have no minions in your opening hand, show your hand, discard it, and draw a new hand of five cards; you must keep the second hand.[3]
5. Whoever got up the earliest this morning goes first.[3]
**A Turn**
1. Some abilities happen at the start of your turn.[4]
2. Play one minion, play one action, or play one of each (in any order).[4][2] You can also choose to play fewer cards.[4][2]
3. To play a minion, choose a base and put the minion card beside it, facing toward you, and do what the card says.[4]
4. To play an action, show your card and do what it says, then discard the action unless it has an Ongoing ability.[4]
5. If you use a Special ability to play a card on your turn, it does not count as one of your free cards for that turn.[5]
6. After playing cards, check to see whether any bases are ready to score.[4]
7. If any bases are ready, you must start scoring.[4]
8. If you are scoring a base, and you get to play extra minions or actions, you must play those extra cards immediately or not at all.[4][6]
9. Draw two cards.[4][2]
10. Discard down to a maximum hand of 10 cards if necessary.[4][2]
11. Anything that happens at the end of the turn happens here.[4]
12. Play passes to the player on the left.[4] (Note: Setup states play continues clockwise [3]).
**Scoring**
1. A base scores if the total power of all minions on that base equals or exceeds the base's breakpoint.[6][2]
2. If more than one base is ready to score, the player whose turn it is decides which one to score first.[4][6]
3. When a base is chosen to score, each player first gets to use any Special abilities that happen "before" the base scores.[6]
4. If multiple players want to use a Special ability, start with the current player and go around the table clockwise until all players pass in sequence.[6]
5. The player with the most power on a base is the winner and gains victory points equal to the number on the left.[6]
6. The second highest player is the runner up and receives the middle number.[6]
7. The third highest player receives the number on the right.[6]
8. You must have at least one minion on a base to get victory points.[6]
9. In case of a tie, each player receives full victory points for the highest place he or she qualified for.[2]
10. Resolve the ability on the base, discard minions there, and then replace it.[2]
**Ending the Game**
1. After scoring bases, check to see if any players have 15 or more victory points.[4]
2. If a player has 15 or more victory points at the end of a turn, he or she wins.[2]
3. If two or more players have more than 15 VP, the one with the most victory points wins.[2]
4. In case of a tie for the win, play another turn.[2]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 17 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.

both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. this game registers NO errata cards (edition 732), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
