How do I setup the game?

Answered counted as answered

Asked with: Dragon Eclipsebg-381247-en-1e

Depending on the game mode or scenario, the setup process varies:
**Roguelite Mode Setup**
1. If this is your first Run, perform a Roguelite setup beforehand.[1]
2. Choose an unlocked Roguelite map and place it in the middle of the play area.[1]
3. Place a token in the starting space to represent your position on the map.[1]
4. Shuffle the Advancement A cards (and B cards, if unlocked) and place them next to the map.[1]
5. Place Enemy Attack, Item, Corruption, and Equipment cards next to the map.[1]
6. Shuffle the Mystery cards, placing one face up card on each lettered slot on the map and the remaining cards face down next to the map.[1]
7. Players collectively choose unlocked Artifacts up to the number of available Artifact slots.[1]
8. Each player chooses one unlocked Mystling (players must choose Mystlings with different main Elements).[1]
9. Remove the Tier card of the previously chosen Mystling from the Tier deck.[1]
10. For each player, take the chosen Mystling's Stat, Ability, and Action cards, a set of 10 different Starting cards (marked with S), and a Help card matching their Mystling Element.[1]
11. Place the Elemental decks matching the chosen Mystling's main and sub Elements next to the map.[1]
12. Resolve the effects of unlocked Starting perks.[1]
13. Each player chooses one locked Artifact card and places it face down in their play area (Achievement side up).[1]
**Quick Battle (PvP) Setup**
1. Randomly choose the first player.[2]
2. The first player chooses any Mystling and takes its Stat, Ability, and Action cards, then the other player does the same.[2]
3. Simultaneously, players construct decks for their chosen Mystlings following Deck Construction rules, with the following exceptions:
* Divide all neutral cards into two piles so each pile has one copy of each card.[2]
* Divide all Elemental Action cards into piles by Element.[2]
* Players receive one neutral card pile each (players may agree to trade).[2]
* If players chose the same Element type Mystling and cannot agree on cards, they choose one by one starting with the first player.[2]
* If a Mystling has a subtype Element, those players choose Action cards for their subtype after the other player finishes construction.[2]
4. Players randomly select one of the Arena maps (use side).[2]
5. Players randomly draw one of the PvP Arena cards and follow all Setup instructions on it.[2]
6. The first player places their Mystling in starting space I.[2]
7. The other player chooses to place their Mystling in starting space II or III.[2]
8. Players take their Action decks, shuffle them, and place them in the Player's deck slot face down.[2]
9. Players draw four Action cards (one by one) and place them in slots 1-4 to the right of their Action deck.[2]
10. Starting with the first player, each player may decide to perform a mulligan.[2]
**Challenge Setup**
1. Randomly choose the host player.[3]
2. The host player chooses one Mystling and takes its Stat, Ability, and Action cards; the other player does the same and immediately chooses their second Mystling; the host player chooses their second and third Mystling; finally, the other player chooses their third Mystling.[3]
3. Players cannot choose a Mystling with a main Element they already have.[3]
4. Divide all neutral cards into two piles so each pile has one copy of each card.[3]
5. Divide all Elemental action cards into piles by Element.[3]
6. Players receive one neutral card pile each (players may agree to trade).[3]
7. Simultaneously, players construct decks for one of their chosen Mystlings following Deck Construction rules, with the following exceptions:
* If players chose the same Element type Mystling and cannot agree on cards, they choose one by one starting from the host player.[3]
* If a Mystling has a subtype element, those players choose Action cards for their subtype after the other player finishes construction.[3]
8. Repeat this process for the remaining Mystlings until each player has constructed 3 decks.[3]
**Exploration Setup (Scenario)**
1. Open the indicated Location map from the Location map book and place the book in your play area.[4]
2. Place Secret X face down in the Event slot.[4]
3. Find the mentioned Secret in the Secret deck and place it face down (without looking)

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 80 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

watchdog
first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.

this game registers NO errata cards (edition 1218), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
