**Standard Game Setup**
1. Each player chooses a color and takes the pieces in their color.[1]
2. Place your site tiles on the starting continent closest to you.[1]
3. Give each space a matching site tile, using the two remaining tiles for the two ocean spaces.[1]
4. Place 2 tokens from each player on the starting space of the progress track.[1]
5. Place a player board so its Old World and New World sides align with those sides of the main board.[1]
6. Keep other pieces next to the player board as shown.[1]
7. For technology tiles, mix up four tiles (numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4) face down, choose one at random, and take all tiles with that assigned number.[1]
8. Place these technology tiles on your board in the appropriate row, but randomly within that row, according to the dots in the upper right corner.[1]
9. Place one marker on the starting space of your action track.[1]
10. Place production markers on the track on the New World side of your board, all starting at 0.[1]
11. Place your color's starting stadium beside your board on the Old World side.[1]
12. Shuffle the stadium deck (excluding starting stadiums) and place it face down near its corner of the main board.[1]
13. Shuffle the spaceship tiles and place them face down near its edge of the main board.[1]

3. If there are stadiums with 4 or 5 happy faces in the display, remove them to the bottom of the deck.[5]
4. Draft goal cards by dealing two piles of 4 cards; choose 1 to keep and randomly remove 1 from the opponent's pile, then switch piles and repeat the process for piles of 3, 2, and 1.[5]
5. From the 4 cards drafted, choose 3 to keep.[5]
6. Do not add the solo card with the red 3 to the solo deck until year 3.[5]
7. Shuffle the solo deck at the start of each year.[5]
