How do I take my turn?

Answered counted as answered

Asked with: Cottage Gardenbg-204027-en-1e

A turn consists of four phases, performed in order:[1]
1. Refilling Phase [1]
- Check the Nursery spaces in the Gardener Row (the row or column, or diagonal in a 4-player game, indicated by the current position of the Gardener).[2]
- If 3 or 4 spaces in the Gardener Row are empty, you must fill them using Flower Tiles from the Garden Path.[2]
- Take the Flower Tile directly in front of the Wheelbarrow from the Garden Path and place it on the empty space of the Gardener Row closest to the Gardener.[2]
- Push the Wheelbarrow ahead to the next Flower Tile on the Garden Path and repeat until all spaces in the Gardener Row are filled, or until you run out of tiles in the Garden Path.[2]
- If only 1 or 2 spaces are empty, you may refill the Gardener Row by returning a Cat to the General Supply.[2]
2. Planting Phase [1]
- You must take one of two actions and may not pass:[2]
- Choose a Flower Tile from the Gardener Row and immediately place it on one of your Flowerbeds.[2]
- Take a Flower Pot from the General Supply and immediately place it on one of your Flowerbeds.[2]
- You can also always place Cats from your reserve on an empty space of one of your Flowerbeds.[2]
- When placing Flower Tiles, you may turn them over or rotate them, but you cannot place them so they overlap other tiles, protrude over the edge of a Flowerbed, or overlap a Cat or Flower Pot you have placed.[3]
- You cannot move a Flower Tile that you placed on a previous turn.[3]
3. Scoring Phase [1]
- When all spaces in a Flowerbed are filled (with a Flower Tile, Flower Pot, Cat token, or printed Flower Pot/Garden Cloche), it is considered complete and must be scored.[4]
- Move exactly one Orange Cube along the orange track based on the number of visible Flower Pots on the scored Flowerbed.[4]
- Move exactly one Blue Cube along the blue track based on the number of visible Garden Clues on the scored Flowerbed.[4]
- Covered Flower Pots or Garden Cloches and Cats do not score points.[4]
- Once a Flowerbed is completed, remove it from the game; you do not receive new Flowerbeds.[5]
- If you use a Cat to complete both Flowerbeds in a single turn, you may choose the order in which you score them.[4]
4. Gardener Phase [1]
- At the end of your turn, move the Gardener Die one space further along the edge of the board in the direction of the arrows (clockwise).[6]
- In a 2-player or 4-player game, the Turning Space is the same as the Gardener Space; in a 3-player game, the Turning Space is two spaces before the Gardener Space.[6]
- Whenever you reach the Turning Space, you must immediately increase the number on the Gardener die by 1.[6]
- When the Gardener die shows 6, the Final Round begins.[6]
Final Round Rule Changes:
- At the start of the Final Round, you must immediately give up all Flowerbeds with fewer than three Flower Tiles (Cats and Flower Pots do not count).[5][7]
- Before each turn, you lose 2 points by either moving 1 orange cube back two spaces on its Scoring Track or 1 blue cube back 1 space.[5][7]
- If you must move a cube back because all other cubes are on the starting space, target space, or orange 1-point spaces, you lose 5 or 6 points instead of 2.[5]
- During your turn in the Final Round, you only perform the Gardener Phase.[5]
- When the Gardener reaches the Turning Space in the Final Round, he is not flipped.[5]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 14 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. this game registers NO errata cards (edition 1036), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
